New to GW, Have a couple questions
just quit wow, and as i was trying to sell my account, it was hacked and now i have nothing. what a slap in the face, and it's pretty ironic. anyways, GW seems interesting atleast until something like Warhammer comes out, couple questions.
1. If i buy Nightfall, do i not get the 6 original classses? am i better off buying all three? whats the deal with that? 2. classes (professions in GW classes in WoW same thing) which are good for new players? any comparison to WoW classes if you've played? 3. i played this at a friends house, got stuck at an invisible wall, an enemy attacked me, and i got stuck and died. does this still happen? is the game less linear or more linear now with the Xpacks? 4. Honestly, how is the player base? dependable and prosperous? fun? 5. overall, is the game rewarding for alot of time put in? thanks if you actually answer all these honestly. |

Shame on you for trying to sell your account: that's against the rules here too, so don't do it.
1. The 6 "Core" classes (Monk, Mesmer, Elementalist, Warrior, Ranger, Necromancer) are available in all 3 campaigns. Only people with the Factions campaign can create a Ritualist or Assassin, and only people with the Nightfall campaign can create a Dervish or Paragon. It is, of course, still possible to play the game with other people, who have these professions. Suggestion: The original Guild Wars campaign (Prophecies) has the easiest learning curve, so I suggest starting out with that one. 2. Which profession is "good" is often a matter of opinion. But, Warriors have the best Armor rating, so they are easier to level. 3. I think there's a command called /STUCK if you get caught in a wall. It rarely happens to me though, so you shouldn't have to worry. Also, each campaign is completely separate from the other two, so you can so them separately. The stories within themselves, however, are somewhat linear. 4. The community used to be pristine (having not so many people). I don't think it has degraded any, but with so many more people playing it's gotten to be like any other MMO. It's still a lot better than, for example, Maplestory or Runescape. 5. I think Guild Wars is better than WoW because it involves Skill more than Level. The highest level someone can get in this game is 20, and unless you're playing in Prophecies, that's very easy to get. (As I mentioned before, the Level curve is a lot slower in Prophecies). After that, it's mostly about what skills you use, when. |

The one thing you'll miss is the auction house. GW's trading "system" consists of people standing in the main towns spamming "want to buy" and "want to sell" messages. That's the biggest detriment to the sense of community in GW. |
